Start of the Implementation Phase in Wuppertal

As part of the pilot on “move-out management and housing placement,” a further in-person meeting took place from May 6 to 8, 2026 in Wuppertal. The aim of the meeting was to build on previous findings from the needs assessment and conceptual phase and to move into the concrete implementation of measures across all four work packages.

A particular focus was placed on the perspective of social work and the further development of support services for residents. In parallel, focus groups were prepared to systematically integrate residents’ needs into the ongoing development of measures.

In subsequent working sessions, all four work packages—from structuring an effective move-out management system (WP 1), to developing services for residents (WP 2), engaging landlords (WP 3), and establishing a local network (WP 4)—were further specified. In addition, staffing structures to support implementation were further developed.

Another key focus was the development of personnel and organizational structures to support implementation. This included defining task profiles for student assistants as well as initial considerations for onboarding and support processes.

The meeting thus marks a key milestone: the start of the practical testing and iterative development of measures in the municipal context.
