In recent months, two new publications on the topic of refugee accommodation have been released, involving members of our ‘More than four walls’ project team:
In her study ‘Anders unterbringen’ (Accommodating differently), Yasemin Haferkamp analysed alternative accommodation models for refugees at the municipal level. To to so, she collected existing accommodation practices and used organisational, social and spatial characteristics to develop empirical types for different accommodation models. In doing so, she has provided an important, practice-oriented component for the ‘More than four walls’ project.
The study is available here (in German).
Katharina Euler and Anna Werning were also involved in a publication in the German Journal of Forced Migration and Refugee Studies, which provides an overview of the various municipal responsibilities and regulations for the reception and accommodation of refugees in the federal states of Germany. The article is intended to serve as a knowledge base not only for academics but also for practitioners to reflect on the future of refugee accommodation systems in Germany.
The article can be found here (in German).
