On September 18th and 19th, 2025 we presented our project “More than four walls” at the network event „Wohnen statt Unterbringung” (“Housing instead of accommodation“) in Augsburg.
In the course of the two days, volunteers and social workers came together with people from welfare organisations, local administrations, politics, academia, and the housing industry to discuss how to create and maintain adequate and affordable housing conditions for refugees.
The event was organised by the nationwide project network “Wohnen statt Unterbringung (WosU-reloaded)” (“Housing Instead of Accommodation”) by Tür an Tür gGmbH in cooperation with the Welcome Alliance by Project Together.
The presentations, workshops and several chats during coffee breaks provided us with lots of inspiration and food for thought for our project. It was particularly interesting to hear about best practices such as strategies to encourage private landlords to rent to refugees or ways to create new housing space through temporary use of buildings.
At the “Markt der Möglichkeiten” (“Market of Opportunities”), we had the chance to present our project and gather feedback from participants on what they would like to see from local authorities in the context of housing provision. Over the coming weeks and months, we will be incorporating the ideas we gathered into our project’s own knowledge network and use them for our ongoing work on alternative accommodation concepts.
