On May 22nd and 23rd, 2025, the “More than four walls” project team met in Nuremberg to plan the following key steps in the project.

The focus was on selecting the pilot projects and municipalities that will be supported by the project team over the next three years. In addition, the plans for the structure and role of the knowledge network and the sounding board were concretized. The knowledge network includes the pilot municipalities as well as other municipalities from all over Germany, which will regularly exchange information and collaborate on various topics relating to the municipal accommodation of refugees. It thus represents the central platform for practice-oriented municipal cooperation within the project. The Sounding Board supports the overall project and thepilot projects with its members’ expertise. This way, the project team is supported by different perspectives, e.g. from migrant organizations and representatives of the housing sector and civil society.

Another essential aspect that was further formulated during the team meeting was the accompanying scientific research. The project team not only supports the participating municipalities in the conception and implementation of their projects but also scientifically evaluates this implementation to derive recommendations for scaling of the approaches in the future.
