From 10 to 12 March 2026, representatives from municipalities across Germany gathered for the second in-person meeting of the Knowledge Network of the project “Mehr als vier Wände” (More Than Four Walls). The meeting was hosted by the University of Hildesheim, one of the project’s partner universities, in cooperation with the City of Hildesheim, which is currently implementing one of the project’s pilot initiatives.
The first day focused on arrival, networking, and in-depth discussions. Following an overview of the current project activities presented by the Mehr als vier Wände team, particular attention was given to the pilot projects implemented by participating municipalities. These initiatives were presented and discussed collectively, once again highlighting the diversity of local challenges and approaches in the accommodation of refugees.
Participants emphasized the Knowledge Network as an important space for reflection and exchange for the pilot municipalities. It provides an opportunity to share experiences, jointly reflect on challenges, and collaboratively develop new approaches and solutions.
The first day concluded with a shared dinner, offering participants the opportunity for informal exchange and personal conversations.
