As part of the pilot on move-out management and housing placement in Wuppertal, another key area of the project plan was addressed between May and July 2026: the perspectives and needs of residents living in municipal accommodation.
The aim of the work package “Support for Residents” is to further develop information and support services so that residents receive appropriate assistance in their transition from municipal accommodation to private rental housing. This includes information on finding accommodation, processes and requirements in the housing market, as well as tenants’ rights and responsibilities.
To gain a better understanding of existing needs, the FAU project team held several discussions with social workers from the City of Wuppertal and conducted a focus group with residents on site. The discussions focused on residents’ experiences with finding housing, the challenges they encounter, and the information and support they need.
The findings are now being incorporated into the further development of the pilot. In particular, they provide a basis for aligning the work on move-out management with residents’ actual support needs and for further developing appropriate information and support services. In this way, residents’ perspectives are taken into account from the design stage of the future housing placement activities.
