Scientifically supported cooperation for sustainable accommodation solutions in municipalities

About the Project

The joint project of the universities of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Hildesheim focuses on municipal accommodation as one of the key challenges regarding the integration of protection seekers. By combining science and practice, expertise is pooled, and existing and new concepts are jointly developed (further) and tested in practice.

The project goals are:

Together with local authorities, we develop specific, sustainable, flexible, needs-based, and innovative ideas in the area of accommodation.

We test these approaches in pilot municipalities.

We reflect on the implementation with various stakeholders.

We scientifically accompany the projects' implementation, identify success factors, and develop recommendations for action for other local contexts and stakeholders.

We make the knowledge gained regarding concepts and their implementation accessible in various formats.

Participants

In addition to the scientific project team at the universities, local authorities are the key players. They can be involved in the project in two ways: as pilot municipalities that implement a specific project on-site, or as part of a knowledge network in which they can contribute their expertise and learn from practical examples.

The municipalities‘ and universities‘ expertise are complemented by a Sounding Board, whose members contribute their knowledge and experience on various topics to the project.
